Right Conversations

The document provides clear guidance to help and support practitioners working with children across all agencies and organisations, when faced with a decision about the safety and wellbeing of a child or young person, to ensure that they and their families are provided with the right help at the right time to meet their needs.

The guidance sets out a collaborative approach to support and drives our shared ambition of the right support at the right time and in the right place to help keep children and young people safe within their families, networks and communities.

This guidance replaces the previous NTSCP Thresholds Document, and is a framework that enables multi-agency conversations about vulnerable and potentially vulnerable children to take place.

This guidance will remain a live document in lieu of the changes to our services for children and families, in line with the Childrens Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026, the Families First Partnership, and Best Start in Life developments.

Unborn Thresholds Guidance

In addition Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust in collaboration with Children’s Social Care, North Tyneside Council have developed thresholds guidance in relation to unborn children specifically for practitioners working with pregnant women.
