NTSCB receive a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating
In March 2017 Ofsted inspected North Tyneside Council’s Services for children in need of help and protection, children looked after and care leavers. These services were rated ‘Good’ overall. The inspection also reviewed the effectiveness of the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board (LSCB) and the outcome of the inspection gave the LSCB a rating of ‘Good’.
The Board is the means by which organisations come together to agree on how they will cooperate with one another to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Its role is to scrutinise and monitor this process, and to ensure that local agencies co-operate and work well to achieve this.
Highlights from the report included the strong governance arrangements and the constructive working relationships between senior partnership managers that ensures multi-agency ownership and prioritisation of safeguarding.
The report also highlighted the positive contribution to the safeguarding of children and young people that comes from a wide-ranging flexible training programme.
Richard Burrows, Independent Chair of the LSCB, said: “Strong partnership working is critical to delivering effective children’s services, and it is very positive to see Ofsted recognise the efforts of all of our partners in this inspection. We are pleased with the outcome of the inspection and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the work of the Board.”
